Births, Deaths and Marriages
The entry below is a synopsis of our speakers talk on 6th May 2026.
An outstanding presentation was given by Mr Alan Duffy at the latest meeting of the Cullercoats Men’s Club.
I want to speak of the death of male teenage hormones. I'm sure you don't want to look anyway. We've all been there. How many deaths do I have to talk about to give you something to look forward to? The Americans call it matches, hatches, matches and dispatches, which makes sense. So I'll start with my birth. I was born in the Greater Trinity Hospital on Hawking's Lane in North Shields in on Sunday the 24th of February 1957.
I come in post-op and I tell you I've just got 4 toes on my right foot he back out gets the results and back in. He said, thank you. He's a professional. Do you mind, could I keep your X-ray and show it to my students? I said, yeah, why's that? And he says, you're the only person that I've come in to replace with four toes to make the four toes and then the sixth toe. So if it's caused something somewhere, I'd reckon we'll never get clear. What happens is if you've got children or grandchildren what happens is that the first child or grandchild, they're very attentive to you. They love getting on your knee for a story they love sitting around learning how to talk and being serious with themselves and playing games with the first child. The second child Whoa! He's far more interesting than you'll ever be.
Alan when on to tell stories about how he would carm the children by taking his sock off and showing them his foot. He told many other storys about his experences at Marrages and funerals which proves, what is the most importand things in life are the family, that you had, and the family that you leave behind you, is essentially, the only thing, that's worth having.
A very good morning for all our members who thoroughly enjoyed the presentation.
Questions followed on several points to conclude the presentation.
